Gossel Wins at Pueblo on July 10th PDF Print E-mail

GOSSEL GETS IT DONE IN PUEBLO

By Paul Bredenberg

Results of July 10 race at I-25 Speedway at Pueblo: Bryan Gossel #34,  Scott Rhoades #17, Matt Burton #36,  Joe St. Peter #87, Chet Graham #33, Frank Denning III #09, Gary Land #55, Carl Vair #45

Bryan Gossel continues the new CARC tradition of having a first-time Main Event winner! After qualifying last in the field, Bryan and his team worked on the car and dialed it in for the come-from-behind victory! A great round of applause for Bryan, as he's quickly becoming one of the Club's favorite new sons. He always seen in the pits with a smile on his face and a "we'll get it right" attitude. Congrats to the winner, bringing home a trophy in his rookie CARC season. Looks like that crate motor works pretty well, too, don't ya think?

Carl Vair started out the night with a new Mod Coupe record at I-25 Speedway with a blistering 12.174 second lap! Wow! The red #45 was set up out of the box! Qualifying results were: Vair, Gary Land (#55) = 12.227; Frank Denning III (#09) = 12.240; Scott Rhoades (#17) = 12.483; Joe St. Peter (#87) = 12.614; Matt Burton (#36) = 12.719; Chet Graham (#33) = 12.945, and Gossel bringing up the rear (#34) = 13.129.

Notice the addition of Matt "The Pebble" Burton, returning to the CARC in Theron Bredeson's #36, previously driven by JD Gresham. The car needed some TLC but worked pretty well. Scott Rhoades brought home the Trophy Dash win, followed by Burton, Denning, and JSP.

The slow heat finished out with St. Peter nailing down first followed by Burton, Gossel, and Graham. The fast heat found Denning finding his way to the flag first followed by Rhoades, Land, and Vair.

In the Main Event, both Vair and Denning had problems, hitting the wall, although I don't have any details of those events. Gossel came from the back of the field to take the flag, followed by Rhoades, Burton, JSP, Graham,Denning, Land and Vair. Joe St. Peter was awarded the "Lucky Dog" from 44th Auto Service. See the accompanying Board announcement regarding Gary Land's placement. Our next event is scheduled for July 24th at CNS and I'm personally looking forward to it because it's the CVOR/Colorado Motorsports Hall of Fame night and the coupes go WINGLESS! It's usually our best show of the season! Hope to see you there!
