Theron Bredeson #61: Rookie Year PDF Print E-mail

Theron Bredeson has been intimately involved with the CARC for several years now, has owned race cars and currently holds the title of Vice President. His other new claim to fame, however, is that of rookie race driver! Towards the end of last year, Scott Bremkamp (who was driving one of Theron's cars) insisted that Theron climb in the car at Cheyenne at give it a few hot laps. That's all it took, as the racing bug got Theron where it hurts and this year, he's in the hunt for Rookie of the Year status. His car (#61 coupe) is black with white numbers and carries a '32 Ford 5-window body on a Malloy chassis.

Theron had a rough start in racing. When he was a youngster, he drove his brother's go-kart and crashed. That was all his racing until 2011. But he did attend many CARC events at Lakeside Speedway starting in 1962. Greg McLaughlin reintroduced him to the CARC in 2005, and he was hooked. He became a car owner soon thereafter, and one of his greatest joys was watching his car win a heat race with his brother Jim driving the #07 Vicky in 2007. Lowlights included watching his cars get crashed with JD Gresham driving in 2010 and Michael Anderson writing off the #07 car in 2008. Mike broke a couple of ribs in the process. Those crashes were both at Colorado National Speedway's turn 4.

Theron goes by the moniker of "Frosty" due to his work in the freezers at Jeffco Public Schools and he chose the number 61 because that was his age when he first hot-lapped the mod coupe. He has dedicated this season to his dedicated wife, Glenda (who is the Club secretary). She is also very dedicated to the CARC and is lovingly referred to by the membership as "Mom". He lists his racing influences as Jeff and Mike Anderson, who "taught me lots about racing and life"!

Theron is the car owner, driver, and crew chief. Crew members include Scott Bremkamp and Alisha Kisner (and of course Laney). Sponsors are A+ Tub Refinishing LLC (owned and operated by Scott Bremkamp) and Warm Hearts Warm Babies.org.

Theron and Glenda live in Arvada and have three grown children: Theresa, Jennifer, and Jim. They also are proud grandparents of three grandchildren. We're cheering for Theron to bring home Rookie of the Year honors! Stop by and say hi to Theron after the races; he's one of racing's nicest guys.
