Harry Stone has taken over the driver's seat of Renee Waltmeyer's #09 coupe in the CARC for the 2011 season. The car is a Wilson chassis with a Chevy V8 under the cowl. Harry is a CARC veteran who has rejoined the club after many years of racing other classes, most notibly the ERA Supermods. Harry started under the tutelage of Blu Plemons (CARC and Colorado Motorsports Hall-of-Famer) in 1964 by helping Blu's crew prepare and maintain his cars. This lasted for five years up to the 1969 season, whereafter Harry and Mark Bilick bought Doug Plue's #40 in 1970. That was Harry's first drive with the Club and his favorite memory was winning his first trophy dash at Lakeside on the day his first daughter was born. His worst racing memory was losing the Supermod championship with a crash on the first corner, first lap of the final race of the season. Harry kept running the number 40, as Blu's #4 was unavailable, so Harry just kept adding the 0 to the end of it. Harry's ride for 2011 is owned by Renee Waltmeyer and the crew chief is Floyd Schiller. Crew members include Adam Waltmeyer and CARC legendary driver Dan Day. Harry lives in Broomfield with his wife Elaine. They have three children: Stacy, Jill, and Nicky, who are all grown up and out of the house. He's a retired Master Mechanic who worked for the Denver Fire Department. We're looking forward to seeing the Stone name back among the winners in the CARC Mod Coupes this season!
