His greatest accomplishment to date was finishing fifth in points in 2008, but getting family and friends back together to join him in the game was the most satisfying part. Watching his uncle, Jack Graham win three CARC championships (1973, 74, 75) and battle Don Wilson when Jack drove Al Starr's #7 is included as some of his fondest memories. Also included in Chet's great memories was watching his father win "B" Main Events at Englewood Speedway, and hanging around the garage, hearing stories about cars, and women! His worst memory is centered around the pitman's race, where he spun the car and backed it into a water puddle at the flag stand, filling the car interior with mud. Maybe not a great memory, but the crowd loved it! Chet chose the number 33 because it was his Dad's number, and as a youngster, he and his friends would crawl into the car and have make-believe races at the side of the garage during the week! Chet credits his Dad for taking him out on the dirt at a young age and teaching him how to "dirt-track", his Uncle Jim for his love of cars and hotrods, his Uncle Bob for his knowledge of how to make anything run and handle great, and his Uncle Jack for his smooth, fast driving style. Craig Graham is the car owner, and doubles as the Crew Chief. Other team members include Tad Davenport, Dennis Greer, Curtis Kirk, Cheryl Schleyer, and Dawn Greer. Sponsors are Allstate Appraisals, 44th Avenue Grille, ARS of Denver, Westover Mechanical, and Insulation Specialties. Chet lives in Kiowa and has three grown children: Chad, Andrea, and Tyler, and five grandchildren. He's an aerospace technician by profession. We'll look forward to seeing the #33 up front in 2010! |
